I assume that we won’t get the keys until July 5th. I assume this because I think Muncie’s Coldwell Banker Realtors cut the heads off of live chickens in the light of the full moon. I say this because the woman who still has stuff in the house said she would have it out by Friday, but she also said that she wanted to spend July 4th at the house. We invited her to join us. I was thinking a cookout would be in order. We would be celebrating, they would be mourning, but it would be a nice transition for both of us. However, we talked about it in front of the realtor, and since she was sort of snakey the entire time we were dealing with her, and since she still hasn’t put up a sold sign, I assume that she encouraged them to keep the keys. Because they still technically have possession of it until July 14th, there isn’t a damned thing we can do about it. We are getting very antsy, though, I can assure you.
Also, for those of you who don’t already know this, we are going to get two new cats once we move in. I figure five bedrooms, cat for each one. Their names are “Thing 1” and “Thing 2,” or as I have already started to call them “The” and “Hooligans.” We need them like we need holes in our heads, but they are only willing to adopt them out together and they’ve been waiting for a while. They are neutered brothers whose pregnant mother was dumped. They are black, and basically look like Mimi, but with short hair. I figure we’ll survive, and, hey, they were two for one! And I decided not to get a new dog. I miss Pippin, but I don’t want to try to find a dog to take his place. There isn’t one. And Lily and Sydney are fun, so it’ll be good.
Back to the cats, though. Mimi did an amazing thing today. She jumped up on the mantle and went fishing. I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth when I heard a LOUD crash. I ran into the other room because I thought Becs had hurt herself, but I found the fish vase lying in pieces on the hearth and Becs dumping her fish, Al, who may not survive, into the vase with Mr. Tibbs, my fish. Mr. Tibbs was a bit pissed about his very temporary roommate, so we found a new vase, which was already packed, and put him into it. Have you ever tried to vacuum up glass, and a gallon of water with a vacuum that is not a shop vac? Try it sometime. I bet you cuss!
Finally, I am finishing the draft of my paper today. The library closes at 3AM, so I am going to leave here and put the paper in Kecia’s mailbox, go home, change, and then go to work. Should be interesting. I feel sorry for my co-workers. And anyone else I contact tomorrow.
